Samsung eSIM migration tool will soon become compatible with other Android phones

The convenience of eSIM cards is that you can easily switch operators without a physical card. However, migrating eSIM from one device to another is a troublesome matter. With each operator, the process is different and likely cumbersome. To solve this problem, Google launched an eSIM migration tool at MWC last year, and Samsung later added this feature to One UI 5.1. However, at the time, it was limited to migration between Samsung devices. Now, it appears that Samsung is about to lift this restriction.
Samsung seems to be making its eSIM migration tool compatible with other Android phones. This feature has appeared in One UI 6.1. The first models to ship with this new version of One UI are the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra. Mishaal Rahman, a senior contributor at AndroidPolice, has successfully migrated the eSIM from Pixel 8 Pro to Galaxy S24 Ultra through a QR code. Currently, this feature only supports eSIMs on the T-Mobile network in the United States.
Google said last year that the first operator to support the eSIM migration tool would be Deutsche Telekom. This is the parent company of T-Mobile. This means that more operators around the world may begin to support the eSIM migration tool for Android phones. Previously, Samsung used its own eSIM migration solution in One UI 5.1. However, it now seems to have switched to Google's eSIM migration solution. It even pops up a menu provided by Google Play services on nearby Android devices.
This is a big step towards standardizing eSIM registration and migration for Android devices. All Android phones equipped with Google's eSIM migration tool will support eSIM migration between cross-brand Android devices, but it still depends on operator support.
