Samsung is already working on the
Galaxy Z Fold 8, which is expected to launch sometime in 2026. Early
reports
say the company plans to fix one of the biggest problems with foldable phones,
including the screen crease. Along with that, the new Fold could get a bigger
battery and bring back
S Pen support.
A Smoother, Crease-Free Display
If you’ve used any foldable phone,
you’ve probably noticed the crease that runs across the middle of the screen.
It’s been part of the design since the very first Galaxy Fold. Samsung and
other brands have tried to make it less visible, but it’s always been there.
All that’s about to change with this new device.
According to Korean outlet Deal Site, Samsung is testing a new
display design that uses a laser-drilled metal plate to completely remove the
crease. This could make the Fold 8’s screen look smoother and more natural when
opened. Interestingly, the same display tech is said to be what Apple plans to
use for its first foldable iPhone, expected around 2027.
Bigger Battery, Better Endurance
Battery life has always been a weak
spot for foldables, but that might change with the Fold 8. The new model is rumoured
to pack a battery that’s a little over 5000 mAh. This is a big jump from the
Fold 7’s 4400 mAh. That boost should give users more time to stream, game, and
multitask without constantly reaching for a charger. For a phone that powers
two large screens, every bit of extra battery life counts.
The Comeback of the S Pen
One feature fans have been asking to
see again is S Pen support. The Fold 7 skipped it, likely to make the phone
slimmer and lighter. But Deal Site
says Samsung could bring it back with the Fold 8, which would be great news for
people who love to draw, take notes, or just prefer using a stylus for
precision.
Getting Ready for Apple’s Move
It sounds
like Samsung is keeping a very close eye on
Apple as they get ready to release their own foldable iPhone, which is
currently expected around 2027. Because
of this upcoming competition, Samsung wants to make its Galaxy Z Fold 8 even better. This probably
means they will tweak the look a bit, make it run
faster, and add some clever new features so they can stay ahead of the
game in the folding phone world.
