Samsung’s most expensive phone so
far has been in the news for the right reasons. However, the latest report is not too good. The company’s first
triple-folding phone, the
Galaxy Z TriFold, has now
shown up in an early performance
test leak. The results give us a first look at
how powerful this device might be. But it also raises questions about what buyers should expect.
Early
Test Scores Appear Online
SammyGuru recently revealed the
GeekBench 6 test scores for the Galaxy Z TriFold. The phone posted a
single-core score of 2,853 and a multi-core score of 8,501.
These numbers look good on their own. But they fall short of what’s usually expected from a phone
powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.
Compared to the chip’s official
baseline, the TriFold is about 9.6% slower in single-core performance. It is also about 12.6 % behind in multi-core tasks.
This phone is being promoted
as a next-gen folding device. However, the lower benchmark scores have surprised
many people. There are reports that the hardware does not quite match the Premium image Samsung is targeting. For a phone that carries a
very high price tag, many were hoping for top-tier performance across the
board.
Samsung’s
Explanation and Industry Reactions
Samsung has defended its approach in
the past through one of its executives, saying the focus is on delivering a
product that feels complete and well-refined rather than simply chasing the
highest performance numbers. However,
Wccftech doesn’t fully agree with this
reasoning. The outlet says there’s no real proof that using a more powerful
version of the Snapdragon chip would have slowed down development. Instead, it
suggests the choice may be linked more to cost control than technical limits.
Even with the performance concerns,
the Galaxy Z TriFold still stands out because of its impressive display setup. When
you fully unfold the phone, it turns into a huge 10-inch screen. It uses a fancy display technology called Dynamic LTPO AMOLED that has a resolution of 2160×1584. When folded, it
becomes a 6.5-inch phone with an FHD+ outer display. Both screens support a
smooth 1Hz to 120Hz refresh rate. Brightness is another highlight, with peak
levels hitting 1600 nits on one screen and up to 2600 nits on the other.
To make sure you can use those big screens all day, Samsung
squeezed in a large 5600mAh battery.
When you do need to charge up, the phone supports 45-watt wired fast charging, so you can get a quick power boost
without waiting forever. It also comes with an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance, which is basically a
promise that this complicated folding phone is tough enough to handle getting
wet or dusty.
Overall, the Galaxy
Z TriFold is shaping up to be one of Samsung's most exciting and daring
phones ever, loaded with fantastic new screen technology. But people are still
worried about the speed and whether it will truly perform like a flagship
device.
