It looks like
Samsung
is finally listening to people who complain that their phones take too long to
charge.
Rumour has it that the upcoming
Galaxy
S26 phones, which should launch next year, are finally getting a big
jump in how fast they charge without a cable.
To make that happen, Samsung is
already cooking up a brand-new wireless charger. This is a clear sign that the
company is serious about speeding things up.
The Big Speed Increase
Right now, most
Samsung wireless charging maxes out at just 15 watts (W). But this new charger,
with product number EP-P2900, is expected to handle a much faster 25W. This new charging pad is a
must-have because the S26 phones themselves are getting faster.
The top-of-the-line
Galaxy S26 Ultra is rumoured to
use the full 25W wireless speed. The slightly smaller phones, the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+, are expected to
power up wirelessly at 20W. That
means every phone in the new flagship lineup will charge much quicker than the
current models.
A peek at retail data
tells us the new EP-P2900 charger will come in a dark grey colour. Its main
feature isn't really the look, but the fact that it will charge more than just
the S series phones. It’s expected to work with Samsung’s foldable Galaxy Z phones and even your Galaxy Buds wireless earbuds.
It’s designed to be a one-stop charging mat for your whole collection of
Samsung gear.
Wired Charging is Getting an Upgrade, Too
The speed improvements
aren’t just for wireless power. The old-fashioned way of charging with a cord
is also getting faster. The Galaxy
S26 Ultra is supposedly going to hit 60W
wired charging, finally pushing past the current limit.
The S26+ is expected to charge at 45W, and the smallest S26 model should be able to
handle 25W when plugged in. Samsung is
making sure its most expensive phone gets the biggest speed boost, no matter
how you charge it.
