Samsung’s
One UI 8.5 update is
expected to hit beta this week, but leaks are already giving us a good look at
one of its biggest changes. According to
SammyGuru, the built-in Clock app is getting a major refresh. This isn’t just a
few new colours. Samsung is completely changing how the app looks and feels.
A
Fresh Look for the Clock App
The most obvious change is the move
away from Samsung’s flat design style. The new Clock app uses layered cards
instead, making everything look softer and more modern. Both light and dark
modes now come with smoother colour blends and gentle shadows on the icons. The
whole app feels more polished and easier on the eyes.
New
Navigation Style
Samsung is also changing how you
move around the Alarm tab. The old navigation bar is being replaced with a
floating pill-shaped bar at the bottom of the screen. It only shows icons, not
words, which keeps things looking clean. That said, first-time users may need a
little time to figure out what each icon means.
Better
Alarms and World Clock
Alarm cards no longer have sharp
borders between them. Instead, they now appear as large, rounded panels with
soft gradient colours. One useful new addition is sunrise and sunset times for
your area. These times update automatically and let you set alarms based on
natural daylight instead of fixed hours.
The World Clock also gets a big
upgrade. A world map now appears in the background, making the screen feel more
alive. Time zone cards are now oval-shaped, and a new timeline has been added
at the bottom. You can drag it to quickly compare the time in different cities.
Stopwatch
and Timer Get Small Upgrades
The Stopwatch feature
is getting a fun, old-school upgrade: it now has a classic
clock face with hands, making it look more realistic and less like a
plain digital timer. The Timer screen looks better, too, thanks to a nice fading gradient background. They
also made the 'pause' and 'cancel' buttons bigger, so it’s much easier to tap
the right one quickly.
Samsung hasn't given
an official date for these updates. But since the One
UI 8.5 test version is expected to drop soon, people might not have to
wait too long to start playing around with the snazzy new Clock app.
