Chinese manufacturing giant, Xiaomi, is the No. 1 brand in India. The company has occupied the No. 1 spot for 6 straight quarters and was the No. 1 brand in India throughout 2018. Many phone store owners in India have converted their shops to official Mi shops. However, while many passed the official means of converting their shop to a Mi shop, many others took a short route.
A few days ago, Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi's Global Vice President took to Twitter to announce that there are some counterfeit Mi offline stores in India. His words "FRAUD ALERT! I have come across a scam where few retailers have been cheated into buying fake franchises of Mi Stores! Shocking to see forged documents, with my fake signatures. We have filed a case with cybercrime department & police is investigating this matter".
