Xiaomi has
officially locked in the
launch date for its next big flagship lineup. The
Xiaomi 17 series will make
its debut in China on September 25, 2025. That’s four days earlier than
expected, as earlier reports pointed to a September 29 unveiling.
Alongside the announcement, Xiaomi
also gave fans the first proper look at the standard
Xiaomi 17. The reveal
shows a fresh back design and clears up some of the speculation around what
separates the regular model from the Pro versions.
First
Look at the Standard Xiaomi 17
The
new photo confirms that the non-Pro Xiaomi 17 won’t come with the small
secondary display that’s reserved for the Pro lineup. Instead, it carries a
redesigned camera island that sets it apart from last year’s Xiaomi 15.
The
Xiaomi 15 had a square-shaped
module, but the Xiaomi 17 adopts a squircle design. It’s a look that feels
closer to Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro series. Inside the new island are three cameras
and a flash, all neatly arranged within the same space.
Compact
Design and Display Size
Another
takeaway from the teaser image is the phone’s overall size. The Xiaomi 17 looks
noticeably compact, matching earlier reports that suggested it will ship with a
6.3-inch display. That makes it the same size as the non-Max
Xiaomi 17 Pro,
giving buyers a smaller but still premium option.
Snapdragon
8 Elite Gen 5 Power
Under the hood, the Xiaomi 17 series
will be among the first to ship with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
chip. This is expected to deliver a big leap in performance and efficiency,
making the phones strong competitors in the flagship Android space.
The company hasn’t yet revealed the
full specs, but with the launch just days away, more details are expected very
soon.
Pricing
Still Under Wraps
As of the time of writing this article, there is no official info on the price of this device. According to Xiaomi's President, Lu Weibing, the Xiaomi 17 may cost about the same price as the last phone.
The last phone is the Xiaomi 15, and the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model sells for about $625 in China. If Xiaomi keeps a similar price, the 17 could be cheaper than many rivals but still have the newest parts.
