Forget Smartphones! Xiaomi Has Been the King of Another Segment in China for Over a Decade

Forget smartphones. Xiaomi continues to dominate another important market in China, and it has been doing so for more than a decade.

Xiaomi has confirmed that its Mijia air purifiers have ranked first in China’s online air purifier market for ten straight years. The data comes from Beijing All View Cloud Data Technology Co., Ltd., also known as AVC. The ranking tracks sales across major online platforms between 2016 and 2025. Since launching its first air purifier in December 2014, Xiaomi has shipped more than 25 million units in China.

Over the years, Xiaomi has steadily expanded the Mijia air purifier lineup. The series now covers a wide range of prices and usage needs. There are models designed for homes with pets, newly renovated spaces, and users who are sensitive to air quality. Every purifier connects to Xiaomi’s smart ecosystem, offering app control, automation, and a clean design that matches the rest of its smart home products.

To mark this milestone, Xiaomi has also introduced the Mijia Air Purifier 6 Pro. This new model is positioned as the flagship of the series. It features a dual filter system with separate air paths for everyday purification and formaldehyde removal. The purifier uses a 13-layer filtration system that includes a pre-filter, a nano-level particle filter, antibacterial materials, a formaldehyde breakdown layer, and activated carbon to remove odors and harmful gases.

Xiaomi uses a single motor paired with dual fan blades and a redesigned airflow duct to boost performance. According to the company, the purifier delivers a particle CADR of 1461 cubic meters per hour and a formaldehyde CADR of 1000 cubic meters per hour. It is suitable for areas up to 150 square meters and can refresh the air in a standard room in about one and a half minutes under lab testing.

On the smart side, the Mijia Air Purifier 6 Pro includes six real-time sensors, support for Xiaomi HyperOS, voice control, and full Mi Home app integration. It features a front-facing LCD and runs quietly at just 32 dB in sleep mode. The purifier is now available for pre-order in China with a price of 2,399 yuan, which converts to around $341.
