HyperOS
Xiaomi has made its next move clear. A number of its phones — including some recent best-sellers — won’t be moving on to Android 16. Instead, they’ll end their journey with HyperOS 3, a version based on Android 15. It’s the usual end-of-cycle story, but this time it says a lot about where Xiaomi wants to go next.

POCO Phones Reaching the Finish Line

For POCO users, the writing’s on the wall. The following models will stop at Android 15:
Two years of major updates is what POCO normally promises, and that’s exactly what owners are getting. The F5 Pro, for instance, still runs beautifully, but its feature future is now closed. Still, for the price these shipped at, most people will be fine — a stable system matters more than one extra version number.

Redmi Models That Won’t See Android 16

Plenty of Redmi phones are also topping out at HyperOS 3.
Redmi series: 12, 12 5G, 13C, 13C 5G, 13R Redmi K series: K50 Ultra, K60 Redmi Note 12 line: 12 4G, 12 NFC 4G, 12R, 12S, 12T Pro, 12 Turbo Redmi Note 13 line: 13 4G, 13 4G NFC, 13 5G, 13R Pro
It’s slightly disappointing to see the Note 13 range already reaching its last major update — it’s barely two years old. But Xiaomi’s direction is obvious: Android versions now matter less than the overall HyperOS experience.

Even Flagships Are Stepping Off

A few premium models are also ending their ride here:
Xiaomi 12 series: 12, 12 Pro, 12S, 12S Pro, 12S Ultra Xiaomi 12T series: 12T, 12T Pro Others: Civi 3, MIX Fold 2
If you own a 12S Ultra, that stings a little. It’s still a stunning device with a camera that can easily go head-to-head with newer flagships. The good news? Security patches will keep coming, so your phone won’t suddenly age overnight.

What HyperOS 3 Brings

Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 promises smoother motion, lighter visuals, and a touch of Apple-style polish — what the company calls a “liquid-glass” look. The Control Center gets more customization, and animations feel more natural. Rollout is expected to start around September 2025, hitting newer flagships first.
HyperOS is slowly becoming Xiaomi’s own language. Less about “Android this” or “Android that,” more about giving users a consistent feel across phones, tablets, and even smart homes.

Key Points:

  1. Xiaomi revealed Android 16–ineligible models.
  2. POCO, Redmi, and Xiaomi 12 series included.
  3. HyperOS 3 will be their final major update.
  4. Update rollout begins in September 2025.
  5. Focus shifts to a unified HyperOS ecosystem.

Closing Thoughts

This marks the end of updates for a fair number of Xiaomi devices, but it also shows a shift in philosophy. The brand is tightening its ecosystem — and betting that users care more about how their phones feel than what Android number sits underneath.
