Recent reports reveal that Chinese manufacturing giant Xiaomi is working on a new smart Q&A tool named Mi Chat. As of the time of writing, the first build is already done.

The tip came from the WeChat account “Dujia,” which has a track record for early leaks. Xiaomi has not made a public launch plan yet. However, the leak lines up with the brand’s recent push to speed up its AI work across the board.
Lu Weibing runs Xiaomi’s phone arm and also serves as group president. On December 4th, he said that the company has been putting far more time and money into AI. This has been going on over the last few quarters.
He did not share hard details about its plans. However, he stressed that the firm’s model and early tests are moving faster than they first thought. In his view, the next phase of tech growth lies in how AI links with real-world gear, not in apps alone.

Talent drive behind MiMo model team

More clues about Mi Chat’s base tech came from leaks tied to Xiaomi’s MiMo large model group. Blogger Grain Factory Researcher shared a screenshot showing that Luo Fuli said she had joined the MiMo team. Sources claim Lei Jun was not happy with how late Xiaomi joined the large-model race, so he took charge of hiring and offered top-level pay to bring in core talent.
Luo Fuli’s name also showed up as the main contact on a joint paper by Xiaomi and Peking University that appeared on arXiv in October, hinting that the team has been active for some time.

A likely stage for a reveal

Xiaomi will host its “Human, Vehicle, and Home” partner event on December 17 at the China National Convention Center. The lineup shows Lu Weibing will speak at the main forum, and Luo Fuli will step out in her new role for the first time. With Mi Chat already in its first build, this event may be where Xiaomi finally sets out its AI plan in clear terms.
