Xiaomi has
introduced a new version
of its clamshell foldable phone, the
Mix Flip 2, just a day after Honor revealed its
Magic V Flip 2.
The new model is called the Mix Flip 2 Diamond Limited Edition, and while it doesn’t change
the phone’s hardware, it does bring some standout design updates.
MIX Flip 2 Diamond Limited Edition: A
Stylish Refresh
In terms of looks, the Diamond
Limited Edition outshines the Mix Flip 2, but in specification and performance,
they are more or less the same.
Its name comes from a lab-grown diamond that Xiaomi has placed into the phone’s
mid-frame.
Along with this, the back panel has been upgraded to a special nano leather finish, which gives it a
more refined texture.
A metallic plate with Xiaomi’s branding has also been
added to emphasise its exclusive look.
Competition
with Honor’s Magic V Flip2
This launch comes right after Honor
presented the Magic V Flip2, a device that is making waves in the foldable
market.
Currently, the Magic V Flip2 leads the race for the biggest battery in
a flip phone (5500 mAh) and still has a whopping 200MP main camera.
However, it
lags behind when it comes to raw performance, especially compared to foldables
powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, like Motorola’s Razr 60 Ultra and
Xiaomi’s own Mix Flip 2.
Pricing
and Availability
The Mix Flip 2 Diamond Limited
Edition, which comes with 12 GB of RAM
and 512 GB of storage, will be going for CNY 6999, which is around $975.
Xiaomi
hasn’t officially made it clear if the device will be launched to the rest of
the world, but for now, it is certain that it will be launched in China only.
Final
Thoughts
There is nothing new about the Mix
Flip 2 Diamond Limited Edition apart from the fact that it comes with diamond
detail, a good leather finish, and a premium edge.
It’s clearly a move to keep
Xiaomi’s foldable in the spotlight following Honor’s big reveal.
For anyone
looking to stand out, this limited edition could be one of the most stylish
clamshell foldables around.
