Tenaa leaks images of the dual camera Coolpad Grand 5

CoolPad aren’t generally a company that makes a song and dance about it’s up coming products, which is surprising when we have such interesting oddities like the Coolpad Grand 5 with dual camera set up.

Spotted after undergoing network approval on the TENAA website in China, the Coolpad Grand 5 appears to be a flagship phone that will go up against the up coming Meizu MX4, Huawei Ascent Mate 7 and Nubia X6.

The images show a design with familiar looking halo home button, and narrow screen bezels either side of a 5.95-inch 2K display. Things are even more interesting on the rear which is a removable panel with pattern finish dual LED flash and even dual rear cameras.

We can only speculate what the dual lens set up might be. It could either be a similar technology as the dual Lens HTC M8, or we might be looking at the re-birth of 3D photo capture. What ever it is we can’t wait to find out.

As for the hardware, we have LTE, 3GB RAM and a 2.5Ghz processor, which should prove more than potent enough to get that 2540 x 1440 display dancing.

The CoolPad Grand 5 will launch in October, which is also when we will finally see the Oppo N3 and also possibly the Meizu MX4 Pro.

That is one really large device.

Pretty much as big as the Ascend Mate 7, iphone 6 Plus (might have a smaller screen but it’s very tall) or the 6 inch Nexus so in line with lots of high profile devices launching now.

Not really so much. The iPhone 6plus, with it’s abysmally large bezels, is about the same size with a 5.5″ screen.

From looking at the photos, I’d guess this one was about the same size as a Galaxy Note 3/4.

Unfortunately, Coolpad seems to have some iPhone envy, and they made the thing looks like a big iPhone 4. Sigh.

Will this work on 4G in the uk, guys?

We don’t even know the LTE bands it supports yet, so how could we say?

I’m a bit confused. I thought that was the Coolpad VC-1 and that aside from the near-zero bezel and 2k screen the big selling feature was dual-SIM 4G LTE.

I couldn’t find out WHICH LTE frequencies, so it would be great if you could use your Coolpad connections to ask. It needs to have 38-41 (TD-LTE for China) and at least 3 & 7 (FD-LTE for HK/SIN), and it would be good to also support 1, 4, 5 & 17 (for Thailand, Japan, Korea, and USA-Tmobile and USA-AT&T)

BTW, I wouldn’t put this up against the Nubia X6 (which is aging and only 1080p) it would go up against the Nubia Z7 (non-Max and non-mini, yuck! if the regular Z7 ever ships). The Z7 is the ONLY other 2k device with dual-SIM LTE support.

I know I’ve harped on this before, but as a HK/SZ frequent border crosser, dual-SIM LTE is a big deal!
