We are just a couple of weeks away from learning about Qualcomm's next flagship mobile SoCs. This time, the brand is expected to launch two high-end processors: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. While other chipmakers like MediaTek and Samsung will follow suit, Samsung remains a unique case since its flagship Exynos SoC is exclusive to its own Galaxy lineup. According to a surprising new leak, Samsung's upcoming Exynos 2700 is beating Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro in internal testing.

Exynos 2700 Beats the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Gen 6 Pro in Internal Benchmarks

According to industry insiders, the upcoming Exynos 2700 could mark a major comeback for Samsung. After years of lagging behind Qualcomm, internal reports suggest the company has finally closed the gap, with the Exynos 2700 outperforming both variants of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6.
The internal tests evaluated CPU, GPU, NPU, and overall power efficiency:
  • CPU Performance: The Exynos 2700 achieved a 19% higher multi-core score on Geekbench 6.5 compared to the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, and 9.5% higher than the Elite Gen 6 Pro.
  • GPU & Efficiency: At peak output, Samsung's chip held a 5% advantage over Qualcomm's Pro variant. Under a strict 2.5W power-limit test, the Exynos GPU scored 22% higher than the Pro and 24% higher than the non-Pro variant.
  • Power Draw: During real-world battery simulation tests, the Exynos 2700 consumed 161mA compared to the 185mA drawn by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro—a roughly 12.7% drop in power consumption.
  • On-Device AI: Running the Llama 3.1 8B LLM locally, the Exynos 2700 generated answers 18% faster than Qualcomm's flagship chip.

Saving Money and Winning Back Fans

A competitive Exynos 2700 gives Samsung's mobile division (MX) significant financial leverage. Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon processors continue to rise in price, making them expensive to source. By equipping more Galaxy devices with in-house Exynos chips, Samsung can cut manufacturing costs and protect its profit margins.

Exynos chips currently power roughly 16% to 18% of Samsung smartphones. If these benchmark leaks translate to production devices, Samsung will likely expand Exynos-powered Galaxy S27 models to more regions, including Korea and Europe, and potentially equip several of its five planned foldables with the silicon.
Furthermore, because the Exynos 2700 is reportedly manufactured on Samsung Foundry's second-generation 2nm Gate-All-Around (SF2P) node, strong performance will double as a vital marketing tool to attract third-party clients to Samsung's semiconductor foundries.
