Honor Play 20A Officially Debuts in Gulf-region Markets with Unique Rear Display

Honor releases the Play 20A internationally, and it has an unlikely addition: a mini secondary display on its rear camera setup. Something that is not that common with budget friendly phones like the Play 20A. But while it may not be common it is a welcome change to people who want to buy a phone on a budget and have this cool little gadget with it.

The 2-inch screen is useful in practical ways too, showing things like the time, notifications, and music controls which is something anyone who still doesnt listen to music on a sony walkman will definitely appreciate. The screen also doubles as a mirror for selfies. That lets you use the rear camera instead of the bad 5MP front-facing shooter.

The hardware is powered by MediaTek's Helio G81, a budgetary chipset more suited for typical daily use rather than heavy gaming and such. The Play 20A also has a 6.9-inch LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate, giving you smoother scrolling than the 60Hz displays you often find on budget phones like this. So if you want to doomscroll until morning, but have delicate fingers, then this is the phone for you!

The rear cameras have a 13MP main unit and a 2MP sensor.

The phone packs a 6,000 mAh battery (tho Honor lists the rated capacity at 5,850mAh). That is a generous size for a budget-tier phone that should easily last a full day. The charging is less ideal tho, at only 15W, meaning a full charging session might take a while to complete.

On the software front, the Play 20A is running Android 16 Go Edition, the scaled-down version for less resource-intensive phones.

Despite having a huge battery, Honor has managed to keep the handset to a reasonable 8.4 mm thickness, and the bezels around the screen are also really slim.

Honor has not yet announced official pricing or availability beyond its listing on retail websites in the UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait. The price changes depending on the storage configuration and retailer, but it seems to retail for around 500 to 700 AED (approximately $135 to $190).
