iNew goes on a diet with the iNew V7 with 16MP camera

Budget phone makers iNew are not stranger to thin smartphones, and after kicking off the year with the hugely popular iNew V3 are set to do it all again with the iNew V7.

If you look back to the start of 2014 the Chinese tech sites were all lit up with news of the (then) amazing iNew V3. This was a phone that not only looked good but offered hardware including a decent 720p display, quad-core processor, 13 mega-pixel and thin 6.4mm body. As expected the phone sold by the bucket load, but not without a few teething problems.

The V3 is so popular that it still continues today with a new Plus version with faster CPU and more RAM.

Gizchina News of the week

With the year coming to a close though we have been on the look out for a few iNew model and the guys over at GizChina.cz have managed to unearth it!

The iNew V7 is again a thin phone, this time even thinner at 5.9mm at its thinnest point. The phone also boasts 2GB RAM and a 16 mega-pixel Sony IMX240 sensor! Mediatek are believed to be on board with one of their new 64Bit LTE chips too, so performance is a given.

Our only concern is the size of the battery! The iNew V3 had a very small battery life and suffered because of it. Will the iNew V7 fair any better?

Support international frequencies and put in a 3000mah or higher battery then we’ll talk

      a 3000mAh batt in a 5.9 mm body?..not likely. The Jiayu G4S has a 3000mAh and it’s 9.9mm because of it

I think that I am disappointed with the built quality (V3). The glass was not well-glued from the factory.

Android 5.0 (or at least an update for it later on) and a good battery and they can have my money

Any links to your review (or others) to the performance numbers of any mediatek 64bit processors? I’m not sure saying “performance is a given” is appropriate just because a processor is 64bit.

expect snapdragon 800 or 801 performance. im concerned that this chip wont be released with android 5. it will be a real shame if it isn’t.

If they don’t use a 4k / 720@120fps compatible processor (at least) it will be a wasted sensor

Finally I get it from the store. It has a good build quality and display. But phone hasn’t 16 Mp rear camera – only 8 Mp (without any interpolation). Also it’s not 2 Gb RAM device, only 1 Gb RAM on board. Mali 400 (advertised Mali 450). I’m very disappointed.
