CMF just entered a new category. And it
brought one of its best features along for the ride.
The CMF Clip Pro are
Nothing's first open-ear earbuds under the CMF sub-brand — clip-style, lightweight, and built around a charging case with a rotating Smart Dial that handles volume, playback, and calls without touching your phone. That dial has appeared on CMF's in-ear buds before. Putting it on an open-ear product is a smart move. It makes a lot of sense here.
The Fit Problem Nobody Talks About
Open-ear earbuds have a reputation. They fall out. They cause fatigue. The bass disappears. CMF is trying to solve all three at once.
Each earbud weighs just 5.9 grams and uses a flexible titanium wire core to distribute pressure across three contact points rather than one. Less pressure in one spot means less soreness over time. That's the theory, at least. A dedicated listening ball directs sound toward the ear canal while still leaving your surroundings audible. It's a C-shaped design — you clip it to the outside of your ear, not inside it.
The Audio Setup
Sound comes from a 10.8mm dual-magnet dynamic driver, backed by CMF's Ultra Bass Technology — specifically tuned to compensate for the low-end loss that typically plagues open-ear designs. Whether it actually delivers on that promise is something only proper testing will confirm. The CMF Clip Pro is Hi-Res Audio certified with LDAC, AAC, and SBC support. For $99, that's a solid codec list.
Call quality is handled by four HD microphones paired with VPU-powered processing. A Sound Seal system, adjustable through the Nothing X app, cuts down on audio leakage — useful if you're using these in quiet environments and don't want to bother people nearby.
Battery and Everything Else
Battery life is rated at 10 hours per bud and 32.5 hours total with the case, stretching to 36 hours in Long Battery Mode. A 10-minute charge adds four hours. Other features include Bluetooth 5.4, dual-device connection, Google Fast Pair, Microsoft Swift Pair, Low Latency Mode for gaming, and IP54 dust and water resistance.
Price and the Elephant in the Room
The CMF Clip Pro costs $99, with a limited-time preorder price of $79. That sits well above CMF's usual $20–$50 range — much closer to Nothing's own mainline Ear lineup. It's a notable step upmarket for a brand built on aggressive budget pricing. Whether CMF's audience follows it there is the real question.
Colors are Dark Grey, Light Grey, and Coral. Sales start August 15 in the US, UK, and Japan, expanding to Europe and other global markets on September 15. India is not on the launch list.
