Huawei Nova 16 SE goes official with 8,500mAh battery and satellite messaging

Who remembers the good old Huawei Nova 12 SE series back in 2024? I guess a lot because the Chinese company decided to bring it back from the depths of the tech abyss and launch its 2026 successor. Today, the Huawei Nova 16 SE was unveiled along with some more new products from the Chinese manufacturer, such as the most awaited MateBook Pro S. 

The device packs a a 6.84-inch flat OLED display with a 2756 x 1272 resolution and an impressive 8000 nits of brightness. It also comes with 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming and 120Hz refresh rate. On the inside, Huawei relies on the speed of a Kirin 8020 chipset, along with up to 512GB of storage.

The mid-range Nova 16 SE packs a 32-megapixel selfie cam for social media needs mainly, and on the rear side a double camera setup: a 50MP main cam with a 1/1.56-inch sensor and OIS paired with Huawei’s Red Maple color camera.

As expected, the Huawei Nova 16 SE comes with HarmonyOS 6.1, while packing a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, IR blaster, WiFi 7 support, NFC, Bluetooth 6.0 and Beidou satellite messaging. It also has full IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K rating certifications - this means I can take it with me while at the seaside but NOT place it into the water.

Huawei decided to launch the device only in China Mainland for the time being - and I have no idea if India or other markets will get the chance to see it more closely. According to the official PR, the mid-range device will be available in Dawn Orange, Starry Black, Sky White and Sakura Sky color options with the following price tags: 

Remember that this is not the only model of the Nova 16 Series, as previously the company has already unveiled the Nova 16, Nova 16 Pro, Nova 16z and Nova 16 Ultra models.
