QIDI, the company behind 3D printing hits like the
QIDI MAX 4, has officially introduced the QIDI Plus5, a new large-format FDM 3D printer designed for makers, engineers, and professionals who need more printing space without moving to a much larger machine.
Building on the
company’s Plus 3D series, the QIDI Plus5 brings a larger build volume, improved motion system, upgraded active chamber heating, smarter monitoring features, and a more connected software experience. The goal is simple: deliver higher-quality large prints while making advanced 3D printing easier to access.
QIDI Plus5 More Build Volume Without Taking More Space
One of the biggest upgrades in the QIDI Plus5 is the increased printing area. The printer now offers a 320 × 320 × 300mm build volume, which is nearly 18% larger than the previous Plus4 model.
Despite the bigger printing capacity, QIDI managed to keep the machine footprint similar to its predecessor. This means users can create larger models without needing additional desk space. For creators working on functional prototypes, engineering parts, large decorative models, or multi-piece projects, the extra volume can reduce the need to split designs into smaller sections.
Reinforced Hardware For More Precise Printing
The QIDI Plus5 also receives important mechanical upgrades aimed at improving stability and print accuracy. The printer features a reinforced all-metal frame combined with upgraded motion components. The X-axis now uses high-precision linear rails, reducing resistance during movement while improving smoothness and long-term durability.
QIDI has also upgraded the belt system with a wider 1.5GT 9mm belt, compared with the more common 2GT 6mm design found on many printers. According to the company, this helps maintain better accuracy during fast movements, sudden direction changes, and high-speed printing.
The latest auto-leveling system has also been improved. Instead of relying only on sensors, the nozzle itself makes direct contact measurements to help achieve more accurate first-layer calibration, improving bed adhesion and reducing setup issues.
Active Chamber Heating And Better Extrusion Control
Large-format printing with engineering materials can be challenging because temperature changes often lead to warping or failed prints. To address this, QIDI Plus5 includes a third-generation active chamber heating system.
The heated chamber can reach temperatures of up to 65°C and uses a 550W heating system, offering faster temperature control compared with the previous generation.
The printer is also compatible with QIDI’s new extruder cooling system, which works like an air-conditioning system for the print head. By improving airflow around the extrusion system, it helps reduce heat creep, prevent clogging, and maintain consistent performance during long printing sessions.
The combination of chamber heating and improved extrusion cooling allows the Plus5 to handle a wider range of materials, including PLA, ABS, PC, and reinforced filaments such as ABS-GF.

A More Connected 3D Printing Experience
Alongside the hardware launch, QIDI introduced its new QIDI Maker platform and mobile application, creating a more streamlined workflow for users.
Instead of manually preparing every print through traditional slicing software, users can browse available models, select a design, use cloud-based slicing settings, and send print jobs directly from their smartphone. This approach makes the QIDI Plus5 more accessible for beginners while still providing the control expected by experienced makers.
Smarter Monitoring And Cleaner Printing
The QIDI Plus5 includes several safety and convenience upgrades designed to improve the overall printing experience. An AI-powered camera can monitor printing progress and detect common failures, such as spaghetti-style failed prints. The printer also includes internal sensors for closed-loop temperature management and a flame-retardant chamber design for additional protection.
For users concerned about air quality, the Plus5 features a three-stage filtration system combining a G3 pre-filter, H12 HEPA filter, and activated carbon layer. QIDI claims the system can capture up to 99.5% of airborne particles and dust while reducing printing odors.
