Update: Elephone P5000 goes on sale for $239.99 shipping from Feb 5th

p5000 orders

Elephone’s huge battery phone, the Elephone P5000 is now available for pre-sale for $239.99 with shipping in early February.

Coming equipped with a 5350mAh battery, the Elephone P5000 promises two days of heavy usage and even doubles as a powerbank with OTG support to charge other mobile devices.

Although we haven’t yet had time to try an Elephone P5000 (our review sample should be on the way soon), the specifications do make it sound like a promising device at a good price.

Up front lives a FHD 1920 x 1080 display, a physical home button with built-in fingerprint scanner and 8 mega-pixel rear camera. The rear has a 16 mega-pixel camera and NFC for easy sync with speakers and other enabled devices.

Gizchina News of the week

What really surprises us is that for the relatively low price, the P5000 boasts the same MT6595 octacore, LTE chipset as the Meizu MX4 and 2GB RAM! Combined with the rest of the line up this is a rather exciting device!

Sorry my mistake, I was checking the specs of another phone while writing this. The Elephone P5000 has the MT6592 with no LTE. Not the same processor as the MX4. It does have 2GB RAM though.

More Elephone P5000 details can be found on the Elephone website along with links to authorised resellers offering the pre-sale.

It says that the SoC is MT6592 on their official site

  3. January 6, 2015

    According to Elephone’s website

“MT6592 1.7 GHz Octa core cpu, 2GB RAM+16GB ROM, comprehensive test
score would reach 30,000, it’s capable of challenging.”

Now where did you see the MT6595 in that specification?

PLEASE STOP DECEIVING US LOYAL GIZCHINA READERS.

Well that’s strange…according to their own site – which is given as source – it indicates: MediaTek MT6592 Octa core 1.7GHz with GPU:Mali-450 MP4. Meaning not the same as the MX4 and without LTE.

I can’t beleive people are complaining about the processor/4g etc. they are so may phones with fast processors/4g but so few with big batteries

it’s simple get those other damn phones some of us need a phone to last , plus this has a fingerprint so it’s a double win.

this will get about 24,000 on Antutu not the best but good enough for day to day use. remember a samsung s4 gets a similar score and it’s good enough for 90% of the people.

my only worry is the screen, not a fan of the screens used by low end manufacturers, how i wish Xiaomi ,Meizu or lenovo made such a phone.

Elephone P5000 is recently accused by a PhoneArena writer of being a clone of
TouchWiz UI (based on photos of the phone taken by some Antelife staff). The icons, however, do not resemble those seen in Samsung
Galaxy devices but more in line with those from certain Chinese custom ROMs.
