Yu takes a dig at Mi, teases Lollipop update for the Yureka

The Yu Yureka is a well rounded phone that comes with Cyanogen OS and doesn’t cost much. In the review of the Yureka, we also found out that it has a decent camera and WiFi performance, among other findings.

Moments back, Yu shared a photo on their social media streams that talked about the phone’s impending update to Android Lollipop. It’ll be Cyanogen OS 12 since the phone runs a version of Cyanogen OS 11 right now.

If you aren’t yet aware, Cyanogen OS is the commercial flavour of the popular 3rd party community ROM known as CyanogenMod. Despite sharing the OS with the OnePlus One, the prime competitors for Yu and the Yureka remain to be phones from Xiaomi (Mi) which happen to be priced in a range closer to the Yureka.

Gizchina News of the week

That’s perhaps why Yu decided to take a bit of a dig at their Chinese counterpart, which just released a couple new devices including the Redmi 2 and the Mi Pad in India. According to Yu, the Lollipop update will be out by this month followed by a new device launch in the month of April.

I think you just want super cheap phones and don’t really care where they come from as long as they are super cheap. Am I wrong?

India is the second biggest market for Chinese phones, it would be foolish of Gizchina to completely ignore this fact. Not to mention there are a number of users here who live in India. Just like they report about Blu phones for those living in the US.

This would also be..because of the quantum of market size..after China, soon India will be 2nd largest smart phone market and surely there will be more Indian phone news.

The difference is nobody outside of India wants Indian phones where as Chinese phones are slowly but surely building a international fan base.

The name Gizchina doesn’t mean that it is exclusive to china. It consists the latest news of the trends in mobile world and much more. By the time you are writing your opinion thousands of people from all over the world will be watching gizchina for tech news. It is only that you have to make your thinking for the bigger world.

I have no experience with this brand so maybe someone who does can answer, does Yu have good support? I know with all of my Xiaomi devices they are updated every single week. I would much rather have a near bug free version of an older Android platform than the newest one which might never be updated.
