A recent survey by Android developers to seek out the most popular version of the ever growing Android OS versions resulted in rather surprising news!
Despite Android 3.0 Honeycomb and Android 2.3 Gingerbread representing the cream of the crop in the Android universe, both versions of the open source OS fail to make up even 1% of the total OS, Android users are currently running!
Even more surprising is the fact that Android 1.5 and 1.6, despite being extremely out of dated and unsupported by most newer devices and applications is still quite popular.

Then undisputed king of Android at the moment though is still Android 2.2 which although superseded by 2.3 is still making it’s way on to new devices from the factory even today!
Android 2.1 come in 2nd place.
