Lenovo brewing up a dual-sim 5 inch phone with 1080p screen

It seems every Android phone maker worth their salt is planning a 5 inch model with full 1080p resolution and with Oppo, HTC and now Lenovo in the running we are going to have some amazing phones to choose from.

The leaked screenshots seen here were oringlaly seen on a Weibo posting (which has now been deleted) and claim to show a mystery Lenovo phone with dual-sim support, and 1080 resolution.

Gizchina News of the week

The 5 inch Lenovo phone will work on both China Telecom’s CDMA2000 and China Mobile’s 2G network and will likely accomplish this by using on of Mediatek’s new quad-core MT6589 CPU which would be more than powerful enough at playing 1080 video on the 5 inch (440ppi) screen!

We’ll post more details of these great 5 inch phones from Lenovo, Oppo and HTC as soon as we get them!

    Overkill imo.

battery tech hasn’t caught up yet. Sony, Samsung, LG, Oppo, sharp, HTC, Huawei, ZTE etc… all seem to be releasing 5 inch 1080p phones.

It’s too big for a phone, more in phablet territory for me. + Bezel on some is ridiculous.

I think i’d like to see 4.5inch be the optimum screen size with 720p, MTK6589, 1GB ram, 13mp camera, Huge battery, cheap price. (If motorola can do it all can). These 1080p phones will be overpriced and not worth it. Sure the Droid DNA has the best looking screen, but they’ve had to turn the brightness down so the screen doesn’t use up too much power.

If you don’t like it then don’t buy it jesus christ when will people stop complaining about any of this stuff and you don’t even know how it works and you bitch about it. You press the glass and you can watch cats on youtube or music comes out magically or you can read news from around the world instantaneously. Isn’t that enough? These companies try to bring the whole world to you via your phone and all you do is complain. It was only a decade ago that none of this technology was possible, screens were smaller than a penny and I had to press actual buttons instead of tapping on the glass and now this phone is more powerful than my computer at home and its still not good enough? Will it ever be enough for you?

      I hate you.

Bloody hell, you clearly missed the point i was trying to get across. What i am saying is all manufactuers are increasing are screen size and putting the best tech in them and leaving 4.3inch phones and below as second class phones. For example, 2 years ago the Desire S was the best 3.7 inch screen. Now there are hardly any phones that are significantly better in terms of screen res/procesoor etc…

Why can’t we get more phones like Sony, Xiaomi and Meizu have made. for example the Xperia S has a 720p screen at 4.3 inches. The m2 has a quad core processor, 720p screen and 2GB ram at 4.3inches. (£300)

Like i said, in my opinion i’m not a fan of the 1080p screens due to battery concerns plus it is getting too big. Smaller phones are being left behind.

Jeez, talk about a overreaction. I’m just saying my opinion. I support phone manufactures more than you know.

    Hi Joe,

As we say here in the UK … Calm down, dearie …

Pity the poor devils who have to make and stock all those different sized Leather Wallets etc.

Much to my lack of surprise … I’ve been pushing for them for the past 2 years … I think the new ‘pocketable’ size of 6.0 inches should become one of the key standards.

There are literally DOZENS of 6 inch offerings coming out of China as I speak, and I suspect SAMSUNG will deliver one soon. HUAWEI have decided on a 6.1 inch device – 6.0 inches would be better.

Just relax, lad … hate is such a horrid word. You obviously enjoy the finer aspect of our communications world. Just like me !

    Hi All,

Just a minute … pause for thought !

I have recently ‘retired’ my much loved Dell Streak 5 …as much as because Dell gave up on it early in my 2 year contract period … and man people pooh-poohed it because its screen was 5 whole inches and the world said it was ‘too big’ … ‘monstrous’ … and Dell would not uplift the Android version above 2.2.2 !!

Grrr …talk about the pangs of leading the market … that hurts !

nice but i cant see how i could handle the size. goin to take some time to get used to the 4.3″ of my mi2 after a year with that disastrous M9. but 4.5 would defo be the biggest i would want to slump in my pocket. size matters

Screen’s larger than 4.7inch are overkill for phone imo.

yeah i second that. the xiaomi mi2 got a jolly sweet display. streamin movies on it with pptv and funshion and its doin awesome. still a bigger screen would put too much bulkiness in my pants in the wrong place. i ve an ainol pad for bigger stuff but a mobile still is all about mobility and i ve never even tried to play a game since i mastered tetris back on that game boy thingy

I wonder if the RAM will be more than 512, as usual, cheap Lenovo 🙂
