GooPhone i9 promises flagship MTK hardware with a 5.7-inch display

GooPhone, the creators of the infamous i5 iPhone 5 clone have taken a short break from producing knock-offs to launch the 5.7-inch GooPhone i9 with quad-core MT6589 CPU.

Usually when we see a phablet bigger than 5.5-inch from a Chinese phone maker something has usually been cut to make way for the larger size display. This isn’t the case for the GooPhone i9 as the whole package looks pretty well stacked!

Gizchina News of the week

The display is a 1280 x 720 HD unit (we will have to wait until later in the year for 1080 displays of this size), a 1.2Ghz quad-core MT6589 CPU with 1GB RAM runs the show. There is 8GB ROM, 13 mega-pixel rear camera and 2 mega-pixel front. All in all it’s not a bad-looking phablet considering the price is just 999 Yuan ($160).

Let’s just hope that the hardware is in fact as they have announced, as previous GooPhone products have ended up arriving with lower spec processors and even promoted with tapered videos!
