Mlais MX58 HTC Butterfly clone is 1080p $180 phone


The Mlais MX58 and MX58T have both gone on sale across China, becoming yet another 1080p Chinese smartphone to go on sale for less than $200.

Available for both China Unicom and China Mobile networks, the latest Mlais 5-inch, phone represents pretty outstanding value for money. Priced at just $180 (in China) the phone boasts a Gorilla Glass 5-inch FHD 1080 display, quad-core MT6589 CPU, 1GB RAM, 4GB ROM and support for 64GB SD cards.

The rear camera is a 12 mega-pixel unit with F/2.2 aperture and 35mm wide-angle lens, while the front is a 2 mega-pixel unit. A 2500mAh battery powers the phone and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean is the stock install.

The body of the phone comes in a number of colour options including black/red, white, yellow and red, and the overall layout of the phone is very similar to the current 5-inch HTC Butterfly.

      The one wrote “Mlais” that is above the phone in the first image seems to be a keychain… could also be a power bank thought…

    The Mlais link provided by the author is only in chinese, nothing to switch to english language: If it’s already available, where can we buy it on an english written website?

    First batch of 5000 pieces sold out in 30 minutes on 20th of April.
    Second batch of 10 000 pieces went on sale at 10:00 on 28th of April till 10:00, 29th of April.
    I guess its sold out again…

    its the camera, that’s got my attention. I too would like to find more information about this phone in English. The website indicates a U.S. version (translated in goggle), but clicking on that option is little help…

    I’d love to see you guys compare the cameras on these 2013 Chinese phones. They seem to offer a lot, but I’d like to know if they are any good.
