THL W8+ joins the Turbo party with updated MT6589T and 2GB RAM

The launch of the Mediatek MT6589T has sparked a race between Chinese phone makers to update their flagship phones. The latest to join the Turbo party is the THL W8+.

The Youth version of the THL W8 (1GB RAM) has been on sale for months now, but hardcore phone fans have been holding off until the launch of the THL W8+ with 2GB RAM, but that won’t be the only difference!

Gizchina News of the week

THL have just announced that the W8+ will also be upgraded to the faster 1.5Ghz MT6589T processor, which is said to offer up to 35% more performance over the standard quad-core chip.

Other specification highlights include a 5-inch FHD 1920 x 1080 display with a pixel density of 441ppi, 13 mega-pixel main camera, 32GB ROM and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Like the Neo N003 Turbo, the new W8 will be available from June.

Since SGX544 is barely good enough for 1080p any increase in clock speed is going to help.

I don’t think the latest which is joining the turbo party is ThL. Maybe will be the first. Other companies just promises and after few months are launching the product.

Maybe only the MT6589T can support 2GB RAM?

I like to see on Gizchina more models which are already on the market, not just 3-4 brands with their promises? And people can find on Aliexpress MT6589 smartphones already for sale which were not presented here.

    Where is now iOcean?

Now it’s only Jiayu which doesn’t have the updated models, though it’s probably only a matter of time.

    Sounds like a bomb!
But I will hold off 1080p screens for this year. Thea are overkill anyway and with current cheap CPUs and batteries just strain the phone.

I will stick with H7500+ choice for this year. for $190 free shipping you can’t beat the current value offered for that money.

Next year I want, <$240, readily available 8mm phones with 2500-3000mAh 1080p, 2GB 8GB and newer more efficient CPUs to drive the hardware like they should.
    Android 5.0…
    🙂

HI, I’m new to these cheap chinese phones but with the level of price/performance that they have now, I think my next phone will be something like the W8 or W8+. Can someone tell me what the official THL website is? I can’t figure it out. I also have seen many chinese websites that supposedly already have the W8+ for sale – could this be true or am I being lied to? My lack of trust is holding me back from buying from these sites.

Thanks! That site doesn’t even have the W7 or W8 on it though… Weird and confusing.

Some W8+ version is available on their online site: thlmobilestore.com but is not the MT6589T version. So confusing…
