UMi launch new website, English version coming soon!

The hugely popular UMi website and forum were offline all day yesterday for an upgrade. It’s now back online, with an English site on its way!

Visiting the UMi website today we find that the whole look has been refreshed. It’s much more modern looking and less fussy that the previous design. The site now features banners for the UMi X1s which is on sale now for 928 Yuan, and advertises the pre-order sale for the UMi X2 which beings May 8th at 10am for the limited edition collectors model.

Gizchina News of the week

For us though the most interesting part of the new site is the link to the English UMi site in the footer. Hitting the link now just brings us to the current Chinese homepage, but we have been informed that the English site is currently being prepared for launch in the near future.

Check out the new UMi website here.

Update: UMi are sending us a UMi X2 to review! Keep posted!

Excellent news. Now all they have to do is start mass producing high quality phones, and everything will be sorted.

Good news. UMI should consider international support as well. Trying to get thinks solved with Chinese’s web sellers does not really work. Like find out the reason why UMI X2 cannot work with 900 MHz WCDMA. Better to have direct connection to UMI. Just now it is rather complicated. I’m looking forward.

I like to see a Download area on any chinese smartphone site which is populated with improved ROMs. I think the update is one of their biggest problems. But ThL solved this problem and people trust them because of this and not only: en.thl.com.cn/Download/Index.html

I totally agree with you XrainX, a lack of custom Roms from the likes of Paranoid, Jelly Bam etc is slightly putting me off these phones at the moment (although I think that is in the hands of XDA developers – correct me if i’m wrong). Would you recommend THL smartphones ?

I like ThL but I am not a professional to recommend something. But I like their partnership with CCTV and the download area which is showing recent ROMs.

Fine. The strange thing is on their website their is no mention of a THL W8, yet I have seen this model advertised on many chinese resellers

Another China brand that is thinking outside of China and towards Western markets. This is a good sign for competition in mobile and business in general.
