Cherry Mobile Rave 2.0 with NFC launched in the Philippines

Philippine based phone maker Cherry Mobile have launched their first phone to feature NFC called the Cherry Mobile Rave 2.0.

The guys over at unbox.ph have got their hands on the Rave 2.0 for a quick unboxing and Antutu test with a review promised for the near future. The phone appears to be an OEM device from China featuring a 1.2Ghz quad-core MT6589 processor, 1GB RAM, large 5.3-inch qHD display, 13 mega-pixel main camera, 5 mega-pixel front, dual SIM support and a largish 2400mAh battery.

Of the hardware the one thing which strikes us is the use of the 1.2Ghz MT6589 chipset when the 1.3Ghz MT6582 is more modern, powerful and better for battery life. This also explains the lower than expected Antutu score of just 13,138.

The Rave name hints at the audio centric feature of the device and the fact that customers will receive a free NFC speaker with their phones.

More details and the unboxing can be seen over at Unbox.ph.

Price please, and release date in the Philippines…?
I have eager extended family members that are interested in getting smart phones. Of course it would be a gift from us. Can’t wait, =) we are tired of them using lousy, noise, internet cafes with out of focus, dirty web cams.

Yikes! I just saw the price, 200 bucks for those specs? The screen resolution is absolutely atrocious lol. 4 gigs of storage? , oh my goodness, even the single core HTC EVO 4G came with 8. If the price was around $100 I would consider it… Darn, I got all happy for nothing.. We can buy used Note 2’s for $200 like new from Craigslist all day long. Though we’d like to keep the cost down, Since we’re buying 5 for them…

Definitely nothing to rave about. There are better phones out there.
