TCL team up with video site IQiyi to launch smart TV’s

Another video streaming service has teamed up with a hardware maker in an attempt to invade Chinese living rooms. IQiyi smart TV’s will start at just $490 for the 48-inch version!

IQiyi’s video streaming service has been around for some time now, but hasn’t really managed to become as famous as LETV or Youku. A new deal with TCL though might see the video sharing site gain some popularity though.

Gizchina News of the week

TCL have signed a deal with IQiyi to manufacture Android smart TV’s running a custom Android install. 2 versions of the TV will be on sale later this year starting from 2999 Yuan for the 48-inch standard 1080 model and rising to 5000 Yuan for the 4K High-def model.

Let’s see how LeTV and Xiaomi respond to this new threat.
