doogee dagger dg550

Chinese phone maker Doogee have launched an octacore phone with 5.5-inch (1280 x 720) display for just $166.66! Keep reading for full details of the Doogee Dagger DG550!

Just a few months ago a relatively unknown phone maker began to ship produce smartphones specifically aimed at international phone customers. That small company now sponsors a Spanish football team and as one of the most affordable octacore phones on the planet! I am of course talking about Doogee, and their new phone the Doogee Dagger DGG550.

Gizchina News of the week

From the press renders and images we have been shown, the Dagger DG550 looks like a larger version of the very popular iNew V3. The body is slim and stylish while the 5.5-inch panel gives your eyes more to look at.

Under the hood is a 1.7Ghz Mediatek MT6592 processor, the same SoC as found in the majority of octacore Chinese phones, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, and dual sim supper for GSM and WCDMA (850/2100mhz networks).

Doogee are working with reseller Banggood to sell their phones around the world. Interestingly Banggood are listing the DooGee Dagger with a 2600mAh battery, and Android 4.4 KitKat, something which we have contacted them about to confirm.

    Android KitKat?

Seems unlikely. But if it’s actually really running KitKat, then that would be quite impressive.

On their official website is also listed as 4.4. Banggood staff has contacted Doogee and they have confirmed. Let’s wait and see.

It would be very good to be true.

P.S. That is preorder. First batch will be available around 30th, April. Then there will be more batches after 5th, May according to Banggood.

Yes, this is also what Bangood told me. Perhaps this will be the world first Android 4.4 Kitkat Mediatek phone?

      • April 11, 2014

Maybe. You never can tell Andi. My only turn off in this is 1GB RAM

For ~167 USD – it’s a bargain =]. Add +50 USD and you will get other models with 2G RAM

Which one? Can you give me some examples? I’m looking for good Octa-core phones with 2G RAM that aren’t so expensive, but I need suggestions.

There are many models depending on phone size you like, i just ordered the jiayu g4s 2g ram for 214$

From 4.7″ to 5.5″ is fine for me. Thank you for your suggestion. Thank you too Yassen.
But I’ve been thinking, what is more important CPU or RAM? I mean, between a Quadcore MT6589T 1.5ghz with 2G RAM and an Octacore MT6592 1.7ghz with 1G RAM, which one would be better?
And is it worth expending some more for Octacore 2G RAM?

Sorry for so many questions. Thanks

Can’t answer all ur questions, but a good reason to go with the octa-core it’s the much improved gpu. That alone is worth ditching most MT6589 offers, to me.

Which is why KitKat would be very appropriate. Also, the world’s first MTK phone running KitKat is the Whammy Passion Z from India, if I’m not mistaken.

What about Faefa F2S? Android 4.4 can run on the MTK 6589. There is no official ROM though… So this might be the world first Android 4.4 Kitkat MTK phone 🙂 (Officially)
