5-inch Asus ZenFone 2 could be a possibility

asus zenfone 2

Cast your mind back to CES, do you remember the 5.5-inch Asus ZenFone 2, well that powerful beast could come in a smaller 5-inch form factor too!

The Asus Zenfone 2 really impressed us at CES. The latest Asus phone has a very attractive, high-class design, and specifications to match. Just to re-cap those specs include up to 4GB RAM, 13 mega-pixel F2.0 rear camera, 3000mAh battery, LTE and a 64bit Intel Atom processor.

Gizchina News of the week

Now today over in Taiwan, news sites are talking about the possibility of the Zenfone 2 coming in a more compact 5-inch form factor. Smaller 5-inch phones are still rather popular, and it is getting more difficult to find a decent smaller phone these days and a smaller Zenfone 2 could fill the gap.

The issue is will Asus take the usual path with their ‘mini’ Zenfone 2 and downgrade the hardware to meet a lower price point, or will Asus keep the killer hardware untouched?

Hope 5 inch version will retain screen/bezel ratio as in the 5.5 version. Previous ZenFone 5 was terrible on that side

Is there even an eta for the 5.5 model? They should release that one first then talk about about smaller model.

God I hope so. I’ll take 5 inch over 5,5 inch anyday! Some people just do.

I hope they retain all the same specs in a 5″ version. Although I would expect the battery capacity to be reduced a bit due to the smaller size.
I’d quite happily buy a 5″ HD, Z3560, 2GB RAM, 16GB version with the rest of the great hardware and such extensive range of cellular network bands. It ticks all my boxes!

It is possible to squeeze in 5″ Screen with 1080p resolution with a very competitive 3 GB RAM and nice battery to support all the applications as it has been seen from latest research that big juicy batteries can be made in smaller sizes. Processor also seems to be good – This can be a good choice for smartphones @ 350$ range.

The problem is there aren’t too many people who are going to pay $350 for an Asus phone. At that price they can get a Xiaomi, One Plus, Meizu, Lenovo or Honor phones. Asus may make very good phones but they still don’t have the brand recognition that some of these other companies have.

If the price is the same i don’t mind if iTS smaller.
In fact…. I would-be give a bit more money on same specs but smaller phone

The Asus brand is at least on par with those you mentioned.

I understand that some people like a 4.7 or 5 inch screen. I cannot do without anything smaller than 5.5 inch. I think it’s good to create a bit of choice and I hope both of these devices are coming out soon 🙂

It would be nice to see same hardware as in bigger brother but in size maximum 4.7 inch.
