Video: Elephone P7000 has Cyanogen 12.1 already!

If you managed to secure yourself an Elephone P7000 in this morning’s flash sale then you are going to love this video.

Elephone have offered custom ROMs on their Android smartphone for some time and in recent months have been rather fast with the development and release of such ROMs.

For example, even though the first batch of Elephone P7000 sales only kicked off today Elephone have already announced that CM12.1 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop will be available for the flagship phone.

The video below shows CM12.1 running on the P7000, and seems to run well in most areas with just a little slowing down in certain areas of the system, but being a first release it looks very promising.

Gizchina News of the week

The Elephone P7000 is a flagship smartphone with 5.5-inch 1080 display, 3GB RAM, LTE, MT6752 processor and fingerprint scanner on the rear. The first flash sale for the device ended after only a few minutes earlier today with a second sale scheduled for later in the week.

I’ve gone right off it after continuously seeing that silly big black border around the screen…

Also, i’m very wary of Elephones business model of ‘pumping out a phone every few weeks’, what support do customers expect to get when Elephone could potentially ditch support on older models in favour of their newer devices all the time?

It’s pretty much what you can expect from smaller chinese companies. Usually no more than one additional version of Android.

No, Elephone do release updates but always in BETA and never on OTA which they advertised they will do. Then when release is buggy then say it is only BETA.
They do release great phones with up-to-date specs but u can forget about update once u get the phone. (eg. P6000 when release in Dec say will have L on OTA in Jan). They have upgraded the P6000 if u buy now with L.

Lol so much hype for a update that might never come or be buggy as hell.

Elephone keeps pumping out new models but will their ROM support be up to it? This brand is a no go for me.

Does anyone know if the P7000 actually has NFC and a Gyroscope for gaming? The leaks and videos from a couple of months ago clearly stated NFC but the official page doesn’t mention it at all, and they do proudly advertise for several of their other phones

By the reviews i read from custumers, there is a global satisfaction. I’m on my way for an elephone P4000. And it seems that if they sell new phones every 3 months, that’s because they want to stay up to date of technology
