UMi eMax getting Android 5.1 update

android 5.1 ota umi emax

Android 5.1 is coming to the UMi eMax in just 2 weeks!

It’s been a good week for Android updates that has seen Bluboo release an OTA to fix the front camera of their X550 and OnePlus release the first ever OTA for the OnePlus 2 (which hasn’t arrived on my phone just yet).

Gizchina News of the week

UMi are also getting ready to roll out an update for their big battery UMi eMax smartphone. The eMax will receive an update to Android 5.1 in around 2 weeks after developers are fully satisfied with the new ROM.

The UMi team posted the news on their Facebook page but didn’t supply details of a change log. We hope that it brings with it the usual array of optimisations and fixes that updates usually bring. It is also not clear if this will be an OTA or if you will need to use UMi’s Rootjoy tool to update. Keep posted for more details.

Seriously though, I seriously hope they tried doing something to optimise the camera. Some guy complained that he looked at the lib files and it was a mess and half assed. Too much compression artifacts, etc etc.

Some guy eh (“-“) well the compression artifacts are caused by the sporadic iso changes – those guys dont know anything about optimizing the camera software – the emax is just another “meh” phone
