Just two days we have seen the taiwanese giant Mediatek unveil some new chipsets into the Helio family and while new X23 and X27 are not as thrilling as the monster X30 announced few months ago, it will be for almost as much impactful. At least the chinese producers think so, because allegedly we could get some models with it coming sooner than expected. Could first of them be the mysterious UMI Z ?
But first let’s get quickly back to Helio X27, which could be the processor powering the new UMI flagship. Mediatek Helio X27 (MT6797X) is a similar tri-cluster deca-core design like the X2x predecessors, but the maximum frequency goes up to 2,6 GHz on the most powerful ARM Cortex A-72 cluster. There is also a frequency bump for the Mali-T880MP4 GPU. But more importantly it has MiraVision EnergySmart Screen technology to greatly enhance power efficiency and upgraded Imagiq ISP for camera processing adding built-in 3D depth engine for depth of field processing and multi-scale de-noise engines.

UMI allegedly have a device ready to be released in December and this mysterious UMI Z could be the first one with the Helio X27 chip onboard. Maybe a wishful thinking, but UMI already scored first Helio P20 phone released with UMI Plus E so it’s not completely unrealistic. Personally i don’t think they can maintain the December release schedule, but well let’s get surprised maybe. So far we have only the vague Facebook info about the “annual UMI flagship coming”.
Umi should stop with this nonsense, they are just using the X27 annouce to get some attention over a possible/future launch. Instead of announcing new models, upgrades every week, they could do much better focusing and supporting what they already have.
In example, Umi Plus E, looks good in paper, but will very likely be forgotten by them just some time after the launch and shipping.
I agree. UMi must focus on the support of the phones that are already out and stop the ads, of the useless new phones…
They make new phones, almost every month and they don’t care to update and fix the bugs of the phones that came out just 3 months ago!

I am the first to boot Android 8.5. Google just told me, that I am going to be the only one getting sources already in early 2017. This has to be true…because in a previous lie a said to be the first in something else. It’s just impossible to be wrong two times!

You do have a point tho. If it going to be shipped within a week, review units should already be out there. but then again, the article did say maybe. so a hint of salt I guess when you’re reading this news.
