Leaked Xiaomi Mi 6 image, shows an iris scanner above its display

According to a new – recent – leak from Weibo, it seems that Xiaomi will finally join the club of the iris scanner equipped flagship models at last. The image below shows a Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus model (i think it’s too big to be a Mi 6) that boasts an iris scanner above the display, located between the front facing camera and the earpiece.

This way users will have another -extra- way to unlock their device, one that can offer an extra level of security. The leaked image also confirms that we should keep our hopes low regarding the design of the device, since it shows average sized bezels and a not impressive design all-in-all.

There’s also a fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button that sits right below the display, with two capacitive soft keys on its sides. Rumors say that the home button is capacitive and comes with an ultrasonic sensor, so don’t expect it to be pressed inside like any other hardware home button. According to the latest information, the Xiaomi Mi 6 model is expected to be unveiled during this week along with its larger sibling, Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus, that will pack a dual camera and larger battery.
