Nokia plans to use Xiaomi’s Surge S1 SoC in upcoming smartphones

Well this looks great for both companies I guess, don’t you say? According to rumors, Nokia is in talks with Xiaomi in order to use the latter’s Surge S1 SoC in some of their upcoming mid-range smartphones!

The rumors say that there’s a signed deal on this matter and the notorious leakster @Reviewer_ 小康 basically confirmed it. According to him, the Finnish company has already decided to use the Surge S1 SoC in upcoming Nokia phones, but not flagship models obviously.

The Surge S1 SoC is an 8 core processor with 4 x Cortex A53 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and another four clocked at 1.4GHz, packing an ARM Mali-T860 GPU and according to recent benchmarks it can perform better than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 SoC, to give you an idea of how powerful it basically is.

As always all of the above are rumors at this time and leaks, so you’re advised to take them with one (or two) pinches of salt, while we find more info on the matter.
