Huawei P20 prototype appears with dual rear camera and in-display fingerprint reader

New images of the Huawei’s P20 have just surfaced online. And before you say anything, no this is not the same as what we’ve seen before. In fact, this is a completely different Huawei P20 from what we’ve seen earlier. Huawei is expected to launch the P20 series on March 27th as press invites have already been sent for the Paris event.

The new images are of a prototype handed out to Android Authority which is a reputed source for Android news. The most striking difference we see in the prototype is the dual camera and the front design. Earlier CAD renders have painted the Huawei P20 as a triple camera device. But this prototype shows a dual camera system on the back. The source mentions that the Pro variant of the Huawei P20 will sport three lenses. So, that’s a let off. No specs or hardware details of the device have been mentioned as of now.

Another big departure in design is seen in the front display where the prototype doesn’t feature a notch. After this prototype leak, we’re not sure if the notch is there on any of the P20 series phones. Well, that’s good riddance. Nobody needed that notch anyway.
Moreover, Huawei’s P20 will also seemingly come with touch volume controls instead of physical buttons. This is probably a very unique design change from the Chinese handset maker.

Also, Huawei might be planning an in-display fingerprint reader on the P20 as the images don’t show a physical sensor anywhere. And don’t expect a 3.5mm headphone jack. Because it ain’t coming.
