Vivo V9 Youth edition announced in India

As expected, Vivo today has announced a new variant of the Vivo V9 smartphone in India. Dubbed the Vivo V9 youth edition, the new device as its name connotes is a more affordable and toned down variant of the Vivo V9 that was announced in India a coupled of weeks ago. The device retains the design and some features of the base Vivo V9, but with a few downgrades in critical areas like the Processor and cameras.

The V9 Youth edition sports the same design as the base V9 featuring a sleek unibody with a vertically stacked dual rear cameras, a fingerprint sensor, and a display notch which houses the selfie camera which powers the AI Face Access feature that allows you to unlock the device with your face instead of with the back-mounted fingerprint scanner.

RAM size remains the same – at 4GB RAM, but the storage size has been downgraded to 32GB internal storage that is expandable up to 256GB with microSD.

For photography, the V9 youth edition retains the dual rear camera setup, but with a 16-megapixel primary + a 2-megapixel secondary sensor that can capture the depth information for portrait shots. Gone is the 24MP selfie camera, instead, you have a 16MP shooter with LED flash.

Based on Android 8.1 (Oreo) with Funtouch OS 4.0, the Vivo V9 youth edition is powered by a 3260mAh battery, with full connectivity options including 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS.
