Nokia 5 (2018) is coming, hints Nokia Chief Product Officer in a tweet

Nokia has so far followed up the Nokia 6 this year with a new upgraded version of the mid-range smartphone. Now, the Finnish manufacturer may also be close to launching the Nokia 5 (2018). This handset would serve as an entry-level device replacing last year’s Nokia 5. The news comes from Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer at the firm in a tweet.

The executive was answering a query regarding the arrival of the Nokia 5 (2018) from a person when he slyly replied, “stay tuned :)”. This is obviously not a confirmation but it is very close to a yes. Sarvikas is a very active outlet of Nokia’s official information and it is likely that we’ll hear from him when something concrete is ready.

For now, we are left to our wits. Taking cues from last year, the Nokia 5 (2018) may very well come with a Snapdragon 435 SoC. The processor could be powered by either 2GB/3GB of RAM with 32GB of storage. With a lot of companies upgrading their devices to Oreo, it wouldn’t be unrealistic to say Nokia 5 (2018) would ship with stock Android Oreo.

The company has refreshed the Nokia 6 of last year so far and others like the Nokia 2, Nokia 3 still remain untouched. With news of Nokia 5 upgrade coming, we could also expect upgrades to other low-end devices.
