On June 6, Honor held a press conference at the Beijing University Gymnasium and officially launched the Honor 9i priced at 1,399 yuan. Previously, we have talked much about this flagship. So it’s the right time to write down what’s been known and what features it comes with in real.
On both sides, the phone uses a 2.5D arc glass, while the back panel uses a 12-layer nanotechnology to provide a dazzling mirror effect. At the same time, the middle frame uses PVD and laser engraving advanced technology. That’s why the handset sparkles when looking at it from the side. There are multiple color variants, including the Night Black, Charm Blue, Jade Green, and Dream Purple.
The Honor 9i sports a 5.84-inch full-screen with a small notch on top. It provides a resolution of 2280×1080 pixels. This display also comes with a 96% high color gamut, which displays more delicate and beautiful images, bringing an immersive visual experience. It also supports random switching from 19:9 to 18:9 aspect ratio. As you guess, it’s about blocking and enabling the notch area.
Under the hood, the Honor 9i sports a Kirin 659 octa-core processor paired with a 4GB of RAM, 64/128GB storage options, and a battery of 3000mAh capacity. The phone runs on EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0.
All these features sound quite attractive, but the biggest selling point of the Honor 9i is its photographing capabilities. On the front, it carries a 16MP photosensitive enhanced lens with a pixel size of 2.0μm. So this camera can capture better selfie shots in dim light conditions. The Honor 9i’s front-facing camera uses a 3D stereoscopic light fusion algorithm and a millimeter-level accurate detection to model facial skeleton contours and make photos more detailed. It intelligently recognizes gender and provides precise customized beauty, according to different facial features of men and women. Plus, it supports beauty mode and AR function. Of course, it supports face unlock option.
The 13MP + 2MP rear camera uses a multi-frame synthesis technology but the common background blurring feature. So the dark light backlighting pictures are even more colorful.
In terms of pricing, the Honor 9i is divided into two versions: 4GB+64GB version costs 1399 yuan and the 4GB+128GB version is at 1699 yuan.
P.S. It is worth mentioning that during the conference, Honor spokesman mentioned that they will greatly improve the product’s performance through the underlying technologies. As you guess, it’s about the Huawei’s legendary “scary technology” in face of GPU Turbo tech. The Honor 9i will be among the first models that can use this feature. The specific upgrade will come in July.
