OnePlus first launched a Lava Red color variant of the Oneplus 5T back in 2017. The special color variant was one of the most loved variants of the OnePlus 5T, and it appears the Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus is on the verge of adopting the same strategy for its latest OnePlus 6 Flagship.
While it hasn’t officially confirmed this, a teaser released by the company on Twitter is a pointer that it might release the device in special Lava Red in a couple of days. The short video teaser has the tagline “Now initiating: C61422.” C61422 is the color hex code for red. Alongside the video teaser, OnePlus has the tweet: onepl.us/op6r, with the “op6r” in that URL, highlighted in red color, which is another indication that it is actually pointing at a Red hue variant of the Oneplus 6. The teaser video ends by showing the date July 2nd, so we presume the OnePlus 6 Lava Red variant will see the light of the day on the said date.
In addition to OnePlus’s tweet, a tweet by popular YouTuber @MKBHD, and a couple of leaked live photos of the purported OnePlus 6 Lava Red variant are more evidence that the variant might be in the works. The upcoming color variant appears to have the same glass back like its other three variants, but there are no photos showing the front to confirm if the coloration is extended to the bezels, but our guess is that the bezels will remain black.

The OnePlus 6 Lava Red variant if it becomes official, is expected to pack the same specs as the Mirror Black, Midnight Black, and Silk White color variants. It is also expected to get its initial launch in China, before rolling out to other markets like India.
