Nokia becomes the latest OEM to tease a gaming smartphone

Nokia just posted a teaser of a gaming smartphone today completely out of the blue. Obviously, it surprised a lot of people including us as there have been not even remote hints of Nokia doing something like this. What we do know is that the smartphone maker is working on a flagship like the Nokia 9 with a crazy first-ever Penta lens camera and recently the rumoured Nokia X7. A gaming smartphone has never been on the menu.

Looking at the teaser here, it is a 10-sec video clip that doesn’t help us much in determining any aspect of the handset. We don’t know what it will be called, or how it will look. If you watch the video teaser, you’ll see a droid shooting at a robot. But, that’s pretty much it. Neither do we know about any launch dates, or designs or features. The good thing is that this teaser will open eyes of tipsters to start hunting for anything related to this new Nokia gaming device. Hence we expect to see some leaked material soon.

From where we stand, Nokia could either do two things. Either it could do a budget handset like Honor Play or we could see a true gaming device with all the bells and whistles. But these are just our presumptions.

The newfound gaming smartphone niche is slowly getting filled up now as new brands come up with their products even as companies like Razer are expected to launch sequels to their 2017 Razer Phone. Stay tuned for more info as we certainly expect the next few weeks to see a lot of hot new stuff from a lot of OEMs coming soon.
