Sprint, The fourth-largest mobile operator in the US reported that it was working with HTC for the release of a 5G “smart hub” in the first half of next year. The device, which has no name, feature list, or specific release date, is supposed to “provide multimedia and connected data functionality in a compact design”. We do not know if it’s just a 5G mobile hotspot or something else.
This is the second 5G device that Sprint has committed to bring to the market early next year. In August, the company announced that it was working with LG to import the first 5G smartphone in the United States. Sprint, like all other carriers, has strongly considered 5G as a technology trend that is about to change our lives.
“This innovative product will enable customers on the move, at work or at home to enjoy Sprint 5G on multiple devices with incredibly fast connectivity for content sharing, mobile gaming, entertainment and more,” said John Saw, technical director of Sprint.
Sprint has announced plans to roll out 5G in six cities this year, with plans to activate the networks next year. But the company is facing a potential buyout by T-Mobile, which has its own 5G plans.
It is worth to mention that HTC is reportedly working on a 5G-capable flagship smartphone. that would put HTC in the front with other mobile makers.
