According to Japanese blog, Macotakara, Apple will have up to five iPhones this year. The report claims that dual camera, triple camera, OLED display, and a USB Type-C interface are features of these iPhones. Macotakara accurately predicted the iPhone 7, 8 and some aspects of iPhone X thus there could be a certain degree of credibility in this report. Nevertheless, the authenticity of the report has not been verified thus its best to take it with a pinch of salt.
According to the report, there will be upgraded models of the traditional iPhone XS/XR. The displays will be 6.1-inch and 6.5-inch OLED models. In addition, the 6.1-inch OLED model may be about 0.15 mm thicker than the iPhone XS, but the rearmost camera has a reduction of about 0.5 mm at the most convex position, so the total thickness is increased by about 0.1 mm. The 6.5-inch OLED model is about 0.4 mm thicker than the iPhone XS Max, and the rear camera also reduces the bulge by about 0.25 mm, so the thickness is equivalent to only 0.2 mm.
There are also rumors that Apple will significantly increase the battery life of the iPhone. However, the size of the iPhone battery is difficult to change, because it could change its shape. Of course, supporting a larger sensor for a triple-camera system means that the thickness of the phone will increase, which may also leave more room for the battery.
Apple will have two special models with 6.1-inch and 6.5-inch OLED screens. The main enhancements should be in the rear triple-camera. The main sensor will be upgraded, the size will be larger, the low-light shooting performance will be improved, and the wide-angle and telephoto cameras will also be enhanced. There will also be a ToF camera for improving the AR experience.
According to news from Guo Minghao, Macotakara and the industry chain, 2019 iPhones will use the A13 bionic processor, larger battery, slightly adjusted screen size, fast charging and two-way wireless charging. It will also have “underwater mode” function which means that the touch screen can be operated in water. The battery life of the iPhone XS and XS Max may increase by about 20%-25%. It is reported that Apple will also abandon the 5W charger that has not changed for a long time, and equip the new iPhone with 18W USB-C fast charge.
