While it’s not usual to do a product launch on a Sunday, Nubia has gone ahead and officially announced the Red Magic 3. This latest gaming device succeeds the Red Magic Mars that was announced in late 2018 and comes with some pretty impressive features. The handset is not only a gaming beast but also looks like an all-rounder from Nubia that will appeal to gamers and non-gamers alike.

Starting with the screen, it’s a 6.65-inch FHD+ ultra-widescreen AMOLED panel with a 90Hz screen refresh rate and a 240Hz touch refresh rate. The screen response rate is as low as 4ms and it also has DC dimming for those late night gaming sessions. Impressive isn’t it?  Well, there’s more. The Nubia Red Magic 3 boasts a colossal battery of 5,000mAh capacity and that’s complemented with a 27W fast charge system that makes it the first gaming handset with such a big power reservoir. The Nubia handset manages to pull all this off while still being 6.65mm in thickness and still carrying a headphone jack. Official statistics mentioned that the battery can last 13.64 hours for web browsing or 9.26 hours for video playback. Since we’re talking of world firsts, Nubia’s latest handset comes with ICE 2.0 which is an apt name for the cooling system that integrates a fan inside the chassis apart from other elements like liquid cooling and multi-layer graphite. There’s also the front speaker system with DTS:X support which is another big plus for the gaming handset.

Nubia doesn’t skip on the imaging part with a 48MP primary Sony snapper on the back and a 16MP front selfie shooter.  The impressive lsit of features continue with yet another two records – 8K video recording and a whopping 1920fps slow-mo feaure. The processor is obviously the Snapdragon 855 SoC and Nubia has variants with 6GB going all the way up to 12GB. The handset has an IP55 rating which means it’s isn’t completly waterproof but minor dust and water sprinkles.  On the software side of things, you’ll find Red Magic OS 2.0 which is an upgraded custom UX from Nubia with tweaks and features for a great gaming experience. with a Blue-Red finish on the back.  Below are the prices of the smartphone. The handset will go on sale on 3rd May via JD.com and Nubia’s official store in China.
