Xiaomi top exec clears all doubt, says the Redmi flagship is coming soon

Redmi X

We’ve been hearing about a Redmi flagship for quite some time, and the brand has been quite busy string the pot of rumors with several direct and subtle teasers, but it seems like the company has deliberately kept mute about the naming, and the arrival date of the upcoming flagship Redmi phone. Well, that changes now, as the company has now hinted us on when to expect the upcoming device.

Earlier today, Xu Jieyun, general manager of Xiaomi Group’s public relations department formally confirmed that the Redmi855 flagship is near, suggesting that the device will be released soon. While no official time frame has been suggested by the top exec, there are indications the device could be launching in the coming day, given that its archrival – the RealmeX will be launching in China soon.

Gizchina News of the week

Speaking of the SD 855 powered Redmi flagship naming,  previous rumors pointed at the “Redmi X”, and that was quickly rebuffed by Lu Weibing, vice president of Xiaomi Group and general manager of Redmi insisting that a better name awaits its flagship device. And while the brand has yet to unveil the marketing name of the device, a fresh leak from earlier this week suggested the device could be named the Redmi K20 Pro.

Irrespective of the naming, reports have it that the device could come with a 48 MP main rear camera, a 20 MP selfie shooter, a 6.39″ AMOLED touchscreen, and a 4,000 mAh battery with 27W fast charging support. The alleged Redmi k20 Pro is tipped to come with the flagship processor joining the likes of Xiaomi Mi 9, Lenovo Z6 Pro, Lenovo Z5 Pro GT 855 version, Samsung Galaxy S10 series, Sony Xperia 1 and a few others. This smartphone will also likely use a pop-up camera design and it will also be the first Xiaomi device to use this design

We’ll have to wait for official words on the exact launch date of the alleged Redmi K20 Pro flagship device.
