Lu Weibing: Redmi K20 to be equipped with the same NFC chip as iPhone XS


Today, Lu Weibing, the general manager of Redmi, announced on Weibo that the Redmi K20 series will be equipped with NFC function. Lu Weibing said that theĀ Redmi K20 is equipped with the same NFC chipĀ as theĀ iPhone XS: “K20 is the first Redmi mobile phone equipped with NFC. We feel that it is best to use it…it uses the sameĀ  NXP latest generation SN100 series chip as the iPhone XS and the transaction speed is 30% higher than the previous generation.”

As one of the pioneers in the application of NFC feature in China, Xiaomi NFC is very rich in functions. It supports 200 city bus cards, simulation of unencrypted access cards, Xiaomi payment, NFC door lock, and other features. In addition, it is compatible with many third-party APP used as bus card/campus card/gas card recharge, liquor anti-counterfeiting query, etc.Ā As for the Xiaomi users who have already opened the bus card, Lu Weibing also reminded them that they don’t have to worry about the balance.Ā At present, Xiaomi has added support for 11-city bus card transfer card. After logging in the same Xiaomi ID on the new phone, the bus card information can be imported.

Redmi K20

The Redmi K20 series has two smartphones which include a standard version and a Pro version. The K20 Pro has been established to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC and a recent report shows that the Redmi K20 will be powered by a chip in the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 SoC.Ā Both smartphones use a 6.39-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2340Ɨ1080. The front camera uses a pop-up solution with up to 8GB of memory and 256GB of storage. The battery capacity is 4000 mAh. In addition, the Redmi K20 series uses a rear-mounted Sony 48MP super wide-angle camera with a 13MP sensor and an 8MP telephoto lens. It supports 960 frames of super slow motion video shooting.Ā As for the price, a recent report shows that the 6GB RAM + 64 GB, 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 128GB models of the Pro model will sell for 2,599 Yuan ($376), 2,799 Yuan ($405), and 2,999 Yuan ($434) respectively. As of yesterday, the Jingdong reservation page shows that the number of reserved Redmi K20 has reached 27,716. This value does not include the number of reservations on Xiaomiā€™s official website as well as other offline stores. The K20 series uses a ā€œtrue full-screenā€ form without a notch, punch-hole, or waterdrop design.
