DxOMark is a popular platform for testing the performance of smartphone cameras. Earlier this year, the platform tested the OnePlus 7 Pro and it scored 111 points. Recently, it updated the score of OnePlus 7 Pro from 111 points to 114 points. According to the organization, after using the new “wide-angle” and “night photography” scoring benchmarks, the camera score increased. The smartphone now ranks fifth. It said
“In September 2019, we updated the DXOMARK Mobile test protocol to cover ultra-wide-angle performance and renamed the protocol DXOMARK Camera. We also expanded our low-light testing and created the new Night sub-score, which incorporates the previous Flash score. We have retested this device using the new Wide and Night test protocols and updated the scores in this review, but we have not changed the text from the original review. For more information, please see the articles about our new Wide and Night test protocols…”
OnePlus 7 Pro comes with a 48MP Sony IMX586 Quad-Bayer main sensor which combines four adjacent pixels into one. Thus, the final image resolution is only 12 MP (4000 ×3000 pixels). However, this improves the colour performance, detail and dynamic range. The ultra-wide-angle lens is paired with a 16MP sensor, while the 8MP sensor is a telephoto lens.
