Here’s what the design of the PlayStation 5 could look like


2020 will see a very tough clash between Microsoft and Sony in the console sector. Both, in fact, will release the new generation of consoles in the fall (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X) and will have hardware that, according to the latest information available, would be able to push the bar even higher.

If we have already known some of the technical characteristics of the PlayStation 5 for some time, the same cannot be said for its design. The Sony team is doing an excellent job with regards to secrecy, leaving little room for the leakers who, to date, have not yet been able to give us a taste of what will be the final design of the Sony console.

This however did not discourage the concept designer Jermaine Smit who the design of the upcoming PS5 console. In the video, it is possible to note the presence of a radically different design compared to the current generation of consoles, which can also be said for the DualShock 5 which loses the classic upper touchpad in favor of a mini display. The concept designer imagines a minimal design but with a strong premium flavor.

According to the recent reports, the most important aspect on which Sony is working is the pricing aspect. Bloomberg is confident that Sony are considering the idea of an affordable price to avoid a drastic drop in sales.

The internal components and hardware innovations should increase the cost of the console up to about $499 according to rumors. Which represents a rather significant price increase compared to the $399 for the PlayStation 4.

Will Sony be able to do a little miracle with the PlayStation 5? And will it manage to maintain the number 1 console throne in the world? given the excellent things that we expect from the new console of Microsoft? We will have to wait and see.
