Vivo S7 5G with 44MP selfie camera goes official

After a lot of teasing, Vivo has finally unveiled the Vivo S7 5G in China. The company brought in some serious celebrity power for the promotional campaign including popular pop sensations Blackpink as well as some Chinese actors. Succeeding the previously launched S6, the device takes a new route in CPU, and the selfie cameras with a whopping 44MP sensor.

Design-wise, the Vivo S7 has gone back to 2018 when phones with wider notch were a thing. The back, however, has the 2020 vibes with a lot of reminiscences to the earlier launched Vivo X50 Pro and has a rectangle cut out for the cameras.

Vivo S7 5G: Specifications

Weighing in at 170 grams and measuring 7.39mm thickness, the device is sure to be one of the slimmest phones out there. There is a 6.44-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400×1080 pixels.

It is a 20:9 aspect ratio screen but surprisingly there’s no high-refresh-rate on it. While this seems like a sin in 2020, the display is HDR and has a screen-body ratio of 91.2%

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G 5G SoC takes the throne on the Vivo S7 replacing Samsung’s Exynos 980 5G on the S6 5G. This is understandable considering the performance and thermal issues the Exynos CPUs have in general. Speaking of which, the Adreno 620 GPU handles the graphic duties on the Vivo S7.

More emphasis on selfies

Moving on to the highlighting part of the device, we see two cameras on the front. One is a 44MP f/2.0 Samsung sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. Vivo has put more emphasis on selfies as it usually does and says that the front selfie shooters can record up to 4K at 60fps in addition to features like double exposure, super-night selfies, and slow-mo selfie video at 240fps.

On the back, the rear triple-camera setup has a 64MP main shooter, 8MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro lens. It has features like vlog mode, Super night scene, ability to take images in RAW, use front and rear cameras at the same time.

All this is backed up by a 4400mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging via USB-C. Other connectivity features include WiFi, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, and GPS.
