Micromax is one of the most traditional smartphone makers in India. The company had a big presence in the country before the Xiaomi phenomenon but eventually lost it with tepid launches and due to the crescent competition. Now, the company is gearing up to launch a new smartphone series in a bid to recover its user base. Micromax In-series is all set to come to India on November 3. The company has been running a teasing campaign in a bid to attract attention to its upcoming phones. During an interview with the popular Indian YouTuber Technical Guruji, Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma gave the first look at an upcoming phone. He also shared some important details.
According to reports, the company will unveil the Micromax In 1 and Micromax In 1A phones no November 3. During the interview, Sharma neither revealed the name nor confirmed the number of phones coming to the event. However, he gives users the first look at the new In-series handset. The images are cropped shots taken straight from Technical Guruji’s video. As we can see, the new phone has at least two colorways – White and Green. the latter has an interesting X pattern on its rear.
The phone sports a rear-mounted fingerprint and the back seems to bring a glass coating just like most 2020 mid-range phones. At the upper-left corner, we have a camera module that has a square-ish form factor. It comprises four cameras, the primary one is a 48MP shooter, apart from the sensors we can also see a LED flash helper. Other shots reveal that the phone has a top-center camera cutout. The Tweet below confirms the presence of a punch-hole in the display.
According to rumors, the two phones will be powered by the Helio G35 and Helio G85 chipsets. The new handsets should hit a price tag between INR 7,000 (~$94) and INR 15,000 ($201) in India.
Large displays and 5,000mAh battery
According to the reports, the basic phone has a 6.5-inch display with HD+ resolution. It will draw power from a 5,000mAh battery and we assume it comes with at least 18W fast-charging. Moreover, Micromax will provide a stock Android experience. They have promised an ad-free experience and this certainly is a punch on Xiaomi’s face. The device will have a variant with 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and another one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB Internal Storage.
The upper model will also come with a large display, but with FHD+ resolution. We also expect up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It will be a competitor for the Redmi 9 Prime.
